Hello,

Does anyone have advice for a 102ft motor yacht with a 6.5ft draft and 32ft air draft looking to cruise from Florida to Virginia in the ICW?  I've heard it is best to join the ICW at Beaufort NC then cruise north, any suggestions would be appreciated.

From Beaufort NC (bofort is NC, bufort us SC) you're only 2 days from Norfolk /staying inside of Hatteras. If the owner is on board and want to sightsee the stretch from Charleston SC to Myrtle Beach is beautiful, just be very careful at The Rockpile  N of Myrtle....

Hi,

I have cruised the ICW extensively in a 108 ft Burger with 6.5 ft draft and  normally would join in Stuart and go north to Fernandina Beach then outside to Charleston and then from Charleston to Norfolk inside once again. Great cruising, anchor or go alongside at night and watch for sandbars and it's a great trip. Of course you can go all the way from Ft Lauderdale to Norfolk inside but there are a few areas where care is needed. Get local knowledge when you can.

Thank you for the replies. We are going to now bypass the ICW and start in Norfolk.
