A Sunday Funday Brunch in Antigua

Dec 9th 17

Antigua escaped the brunt of Hurricanes Irma and Marie, which allowed the 18th annual Antigua Charter Yacht Show to go off without a hitch. Although not as crowded as in past years, the Concours de Chef competition was packed full with excited chefs and stews preparing to wow the judges.

In all, 27 yachts competed in three categories: Yachts 164 Feet and Larger, Yachts 126 to 163 Feet, and Yachts Up to 125 Feet. Asked to prepare a Caribbean Sunday “Funday” Brunch suitable for guests of every age, chefs were judged on originality/creativity, taste/flavor, presentation, execution craft/technique, overall impression, and use of Caribbean ingredients.

Not only was there bragging rights for the chef and yacht, the prizes were high-class, including gifts from Amandine, AYC Marina Resort, Boat International Media, Catherine's Café, Culinary Convenience, Curtain Bluff Hotel, Boom, Copper & Lumber Store Hotel, South Point, The Inn, and Tree House Body Shop.

in Yachts 164 Feet and Larger, M/Y Broadwater dressed up the table with flowing plant life to take the win. In Yachts 126 to 163 Feet, seahorses, bubbles, corals, and plants dressed the table on M/Y Three Forks for their win, and for Yachts Up to 125 Feet, M/Y Vigilant 1’s dioramas sealed the deal.

With sponsors Bacchus Wines, Boat International Media, Laurent Perrier, Le Gout du Vin, and Marina Casa de Campo, chefs and crew are off to a great start for the Caribbean winter season.
