Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to a call of a 42-year-old male, reportedly the engineer on board, passed out in the engine room of a 170-foot motor yacht six miles off Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on July 9.

Fire boat 49 received a 911 and VHF call about a person passed out on board. The engineer was transported from the vessel to Broward General Hospital via the fire boat, according to Battalion Chief Stephen Gollan.

Gollan says the incident possibly was due to heat exhaustion but has no update on his condition.

Stay tuned for more details.
