After a fire broke out on board, 27-meter M/Y Naseem sank approximately five miles off the Santa Maria di Leuca coast in Puglia, Italy, on May 13. Three crewmembers were rescued from the vessel, according to Daily Nautica.

The Lecce fire brigade and a patrol vessel from the Port Authority reported to the scene, but despite attempts to extinguish the fire until the early hours in the morning, the boat could not be saved and the yacht finally sank. The Coast Guard monitored the surrounding area.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but the Maritime Authority has launched an investigation into the cause.
