The crew of 72-meter M/Y Axioma responded to a Pan-Pan from a nearby sailing vessel on December 11. According to a press release issued by YPI, the vessel’s charter management company, a passenger on a nearby 16-meter sailing yacht was experiencing medical difficulties mid-Atlantic.
S/Y Mowe 2 issued a Pan-Pan call at 8:40 a.m., reporting that a passenger on board was experiencing “severe abdominal pain.” According to the press release, the Axioma crew contacted the relevant medical authorities before readying to take the passenger on board. After collecting the patient by rescue boat, two of Axioma’s medically trained crew — supported by Medaire — provided first aid. Axioma then met medical ship Esperanza del Mar and transferred the patient on board at 4:30 p.m.
Axioma then continued on her way to St. Martin.
