For over six decades, Lusben has been a name synonymous with quality and excellence in the world of yacht refits. Its commitment to professionalism, organization, attention to detail and unwavering hospitality have set them apart in the industry. Now, as Lusben reveals its ambitious growth plans, the Italian shipyard is poised to become a global leader in yacht refitting.
Three-Year Investment Plan
Whilst actively targeting the international market, Lusben has set forth a remarkable three-year investment plan that promises to revolutionize its capabilities. The plan includes significant upgrades to its Livorno production site, following the acquisition of a dock area in May 2022. The redevelopment work currently underway carries a price tag of a substantial €12 million.
Upon completion, the Livorno site's total area will expand to an impressive 220,000 square meters. This area includes 90,000 square meters of yard space and 130,000 square meters of water surface. What truly sets the project apart is its innovative approach. It will provide additional onshore space for three yachts exceeding 100 meters in length, adding to the 35 berths on land and 32 moorings afloat. Furthermore, the Livorno site boasts a 2,400-ton syncrolift, a 180-meter-long floating dock with an 18,000-tonne capacity and a closed dock for working on yachts at their moorings.
Lusben is not stopping there; the yard has an equally ambitious redevelopment project in the planning stages for its Varazze site. The total investment for this endeavor stands at about €7 million, showcasing the shipyard's commitment to growth. Varazze will soon offer 15 lay-up berths onshore, along with 12 moorings afloat in the technical marina. The project also includes the introduction of guest services in the crew area, further enhancing Lusben's reputation for hospitality and customer service.
Services Catering to All Refit Needs
One of Lusben's strengths lies in its ability to provide a diverse and comprehensive range of services tailored to each customer's unique needs. Thanks to the expansion of facilities in Varazze and Livorno, and the integration of the Varazze, Livorno and Viareggio sites, Lusben can now offer a broader spectrum of options. The shipyard has meticulously orchestrated a synergy between the sites, setting common parameters and processes to ensure a seamless experience for clients.
Each site specializes in specific types of yachts: Varazze for boats up to 48 meters and heritage yachts from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s; Viareggio, where Lusben was originally founded, focuses on medium-range yachts from 40 to 52 meters; and for boats exceeding 52 meters, the Livorno site takes the lead. This differentiation ensures that Lusben can provide precisely the right service for every client, leveraging the unique expertise of each site.
Sailing Yacht Facilities
Lusben's commitment to excellence extends to sailing yachts as well. In the coming months, the yard will launch a new pit for sailing boats, boasting an impressive 8-meter depth, making it the largest in the Mediterranean. This significant investment is a testament to the company's dedication to enhancing its facilities, even in niche areas where others may be hesitant to invest.
