Dockwalk Welcomes New Editor Erik Petersen

6 January 2025 By Staff Report

Boat International Media has named Erik Petersen as the new editor-in-chief of Dockwalk.

“Yachting is a fascinating, dynamic industry, and it’s the captains and crew who make it what it is,” Erik says. “Dockwalk is the indispensable voice for captains and crew, and I’m excited to help continue that important work.”

As editor-in-chief, Erik oversees the print publication as well as dockwalk.com and Dockwalk’s growing stable of events and initiatives. That includes the new Crew Creator Awards, which aims to celebrate industry creativity, altruism and entrepreneurialism.

“The Crew Creator Awards really reflects where Dockwalk is going; we want to find new ways to engage, celebrate and inform captains and crew,” Erik says. “That said, while we’ve got exciting new things planned for Dockwalk, interesting stories for and about captains and crew will always remain at the heart of what we do.”

“Erik brings a wealth of experience as an award-winning writer and magazine editor and we are thrilled to have him on the Boat International team,” Boat International US Editor Cecile Gauert says. “His digital experience is also a great asset as we find new ways to share the many interesting stories of the yachting world in a fast-changing media environment.”

A Fort Lauderdale native, Erik spent a decade editing Fort Lauderdale Magazine. Before that, he worked as a newspaper journalist in the most inland cities in the US and the UK, starting his career at The Kansas City Star before spending more than a decade at the Nottingham Post. While he highly recommends both cities, he says he prefers to be someplace with ocean breezes and big white boats.
