Thailand’s Transport Ministry has introduced new regulations for superyacht arrivals to enhance the country’s appeal as a hub for maritime tourism.

The newly revised rules lower the minimum size requirement for superyachts from 30 meters to 24 meters, allowing a broader range of vessels to qualify as superyachts and benefit from the same favorable conditions as larger vessels.

Additionally, insurance coverage has been set at a minimum of US$5 million per incident, and a streamlined electronic application process has been introduced, with a 25-day approval cap.

The move aims to align Thailand’s maritime policies with international standards, making the country more attractive to owners and operators.

To support its ambitions of becoming a leading regional centre for ocean tourism, Thailand is also developing new cruise terminals at Laem Chabang Port and Koh Samui, further enhancing its infrastructure.
