With nearly 30,000 delivered wireless control systems since 2003, Yacht Controller will be releasing its Dynamic Positioning System with delivery expected late 2024. Extensive beta-testing has been completed in Switzerland and Italy.
Compatible with Garmin as a OneHelm partner and Raymarine via ethernet, the DPS requires no additional hardware at the helm with the seamless software integration via the 64-bit quad-core processor to the vessel’s screens. With Garmin’s OneHelm integration, the Yacht Controller system can sync and use the Garmin technology to provide global positioning through their DPS, providing great synergy.
“What is unique about our product is that it virtually requires no hardware outside of the marine satellite compass-heading sensor and tri-band antenna,” says Tony Valiente, Yacht Controller COO and managing partner.
The system supports five geofence settings set to the user’s requirements, maintaining a hold position heading within several feet depending on the vessel’s capabilities. For any needed changes to these geofence settings, Yacht Controller securely remotely accesses the system via a virtual private network to make the adjustments, along with providing any software or firmware updates.
The user sets the desired position, and the marine satellite compass heading sensor and tri-band GPS GNSS receiver monitors the position. If the vessel drifts, the DPS calculates the necessary adjustments and activates the thrusters and engines to bring the vessel back to the set position and heading. The system has increased accuracy, faster updates and better tracking.
“Because of that synergy and software integration, we are providing our dynamic positioning product at a fraction of the cost to most competitors out there,” Tony shares.
Although the ideal configuration is a vessel with dual-screw, hydraulic or variable speed bow and stern thrusters, the DPS is suitable for other configurations ranging from center console boats to superyachts.
