Ethical Yacht Wear has announced a significant achievement in its mission to promote sustainability in the yachting industry, by removing the equivalent of one million plastic bottles from our oceans. This milestone reflects the company’s deep commitment to ocean conservation, a core value instilled by its founder and former crew member Lauren Wardley, who drew inspiration from her own experience working on board.

Ethical Yacht Wear partners with the Plastic Bank, a social fintech organization that incentivizes individuals in coastal communities to collect plastic waste. A portion of the profits made from uniform sales is given to the initiative, which not only reduces ocean pollution but also provides steady income to people in impoverished areas.

The company’s dedication to sustainability extends beyond cleanup efforts, incorporating a circular business model that offers uniforms made from 100% organic cotton or recycled materials derived from ocean plastics.

Lauren, who launched Ethical Yacht Wear out of her love for the ocean and her desire to make a positive impact, said, “I wanted to give back and use business as a force of good. I am extremely proud of our consistent commitment and effort in supporting ocean cleanup. This achievement in plastic cleanup in collaboration with our clients and the Plastic Bank is huge, and we are determined to continue making a positive impact and showing people and the industry that there is a better way."

Addressing the issue of microplastics, another significant environmental threat, Ethical Yacht Wear now offers washing machine filters designed to capture microfibers, preventing them from entering the ocean. ethicalyachtwear.com
