Operated by Ports of Monaco – Société Monégasque Internationale Portuaire (SMIP) – the brand new Cala del Forte marina in Ventimiglia, Italy, offers secure berthing for superyachts up to 70 metres, as either visitor or long leaseholder, and is just a 7.5-nautical-mile hop from Monaco.
Visiting superyacht guests can benefit from the marina’s regular high-speed catamaran shuttle, Monaco One, which can whisk parties of up to 12 to Monaco in just 15 minutes.
Ventimiglia is a destination in itself, and sports one of the best food markets in the region. Indeed, many Monegasques drive there on Saturdays to stock up on fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers. There are a number of local hidden beaches easily reached by tender, as well as beach clubs with swimming pools and Italian restaurants. The marina also has a lift that takes guests up to the historical town of Ventimiglia Alta.
Cala del Forte has a promenade of boutiques, restaurants and bars primarily aimed at owners, while other facilities, such as a gymnasium, will appeal to crew should your yacht be based here during off-season. A quiet repair yard offers haul-out for vessels up to 30 metres LOA while, for those who want to drive to Monaco, Boutsen Classic Cars offers a hand-picked selection of rare vehicles to purchase. There are nearly 600 parking spaces in this calm, green environment, encourage walking or the use of electric golf cart transportation around its 15,000 square metres of waterfront and gardens.
With 70 CCTV cameras and being owned and operated by the well-established SMIP, yacht owners and captains will feel as well-protected here as in sister marinas Port Hercules and Port of Fontvieille. The Yacht Club de Monaco’s classic sailing yacht Tuiga was the first yacht to sail into Cala del Forte, after HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco opened the superport in 2021.
