M/Y Baton Rouge Crew to Host Movember Fundraiser in Saint Martin

29 November 2024 By Holly Overton

The crew of M/Y Baton Rouge is crossing the Atlantic with a mission that goes beyond reaching Saint Martin—this year, they’re aiming to raise £5,000 for Movember to support men’s mental health and increase awareness about prostate and testicular cancer.

As they sail toward Saint Martin, the crew has taken on dual challenges to boost their fundraising efforts. The male crew members are growing Movember moustaches—with varying degrees of success—while the female crew have committed to running or cycling 5k each day during the crossing.

The campaign will culminate with a fundraising party at IGY Yacht Club in Saint Martin on November 29, where attendees can expect music from the yacht’s own DJ, James Da Silva. The event will mark the end of their journey and amplify their efforts to support these vital causes.

Life onboard for extended periods often requires crew to rely on one another for support, making Movember’s mental health focus particularly relevant to the yachting community. This initiative is a chance for Baton Rouge’s crew to shine a light on mental health challenges and foster openness in an industry where long hours and close quarters are the norm.
