Yesterday, February 13, FtLauderdaleWebcam.com publishedfootage on its Facebook page of the 171-foot M/Y Sunrise grounded in Fort Lauderdale in front of Pier 66 Marina — astatus reportedly confirmed by Marine Traffic AIS, which labeled the yacht as“aground” at the time.
According to Local10,eyewitnesses say the boat was being towed out of the docks when it hit asandbar, tilting to such an extent that one of its propellers jutted out of thewater. However, there is no official report on what caused the yacht to runaground.
A tow boat and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) workedto free the boat, waiting until the tide rose to make their moves. Later thatevening, she was reported as floating free, but there’s no word yet on hercurrent status. There are no reported injuries.
