The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off Wednesday, March 19 — and when it does, captains and crew will have a new place to relax and take a break.
The Oasis Lounge — sponsored by Global Marine Travel, Dockwalk, Yacht Chandler’s, Derecktor Shipyard, Engineered Yacht Solutions and Shipyard Supply — will give captains and crew a casual spot away from the bustle of the show to have a drink and a bite to eat, and catch up with friends. This is the Palm Beach show debut for the lounge, which will be similar to the Oasis Lounge at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. From 2025, Dockwalk will also partner with GMT at the FLIBS lounge.
The lounge will also host a Meet the Maker event with Heirloom Linens, sponsored by YC Interiors, from 3 to 4pm on Thursday, March 20. YC Interiors is also hosting a floral competition on Tuesday at Lauderdale Marine Center; winning entries will be displayed in the lounge. Winners of a YC Interiors-sponsored tablescaping competition will be announced in the lounge on Friday, March 21.
Organizers believe the Oasis Lounge will be a welcome addition at Palm Beach.
“We are very grateful to Informa and Show Management for the opportunity to expand on our successful hospitality concept created at FLIBS and bring the concept to PBIBS,” GMT managing director Tim Davey says. “We all believe that giving the captains and crews a private space to get away from the show, to relax and grab a bite to eat and drink is what helps make a successful show for all concerned. We are very much looking forward to our first edition at our new location at the Palm Harbor Yacht Club end of the show.”
It's all about taking care of the people who take care of the yachts, Dockwalk editor Erik Petersen says.
“It’s massively exciting for us to be able to partner with GMT on the Oasis Lounge,” he says. “We know how hard captains and crew work, and we want to give them a spot that’s all theirs. Hopefully we’ll get to see some old friends and meet new ones at Palm Beach — and then we’ll do it all again in the fall at FLIBS.”
The Oasis Lounge will be open every day during the show from 10am to 5pm. It will be located at the north end of the show, next to the Superyacht Show Pavilion.
