With changing travel requirements and entry requirements differing from country to country, MedAire has launched a tool to help make travel easier. The COVID Trip Planner allows users to self-assess their travel plans and view the current restrictions and requirements based on their nationality, travel dates, and vaccination status.
It updates continuously with real-time data taken from Sherpa, MedAire’s partner that specializes in COVID-related travel information. Just input all your details and it will show quarantine mandates, testing and documentation requirements, and other helpful information like visas needed for that trip.
“COVID continues to cause an administrative burden for crew worldwide in arranging travel for themselves and their guests,” says Emma Deal, director of account management at MedAire. “Our clients have been calling out for a tool like this for months and so we’re excited to launch a quick and easy-to-use tool that systematically lays out the COVID travel information, as per the individual’s circumstances.”
The tool was developed alongside MedAire’s parent company International SOS, which specializes in providing health, security, logistics, and digital solutions. Many of their tools and services are helpful to captains and crew.
The trip planner is available to all MedAire clients who have a comprehensive membership that includes telemedical assistance (allowing crewmembers to call MedLink for any routine and emergency medical advice), security information, and Port Risk Assessments.
Crewmembers working aboard a vessel that MedAire services have access to the tool via a security portal, where crew can also sign up to receive alerts and updates regarding locations and areas they are cruising around.
