It’s a sad fact, especially due to COVID, that some businesses don’t last long. However, MHG Insurance is one of those gems that improves with age. In January, they celebrated an impressive 30 years in the business.
Currently, MHG is working with a few carriers to bring new and relevant products to the marketplace, says Mark Bononi, director, Yacht Division, MHG Insurance. “They are yacht group medical plans, one with a very big name, and the other with a name that will be new to the yachting industry,” he says.
“Internally, our top accomplishment was when we reached 500 yacht group clients worldwide [in 2018],” says Bononi. “As it relates to superyacht captains and crew, our top accomplishment is that we have never wavered from our commitment to provide a high level of service and support.”
For the Fort Lauderdale-based company that introduced crew benefits to the marine industry in 1991, their mission has always been to provide independent insurance advice and solutions that exceeds the needs and expectations of the maritime community (in the U.S. and internationally). “In the next five years, we are going to continue to diversify our portfolio of solutions available in the marine industry as a whole, as well as continue to add lines of business that are on the periphery of our industry,” Bononi says. Their long-term goal is to be synonymous with the word “insurance” in the marine industry.
Bononi adds that even if they’re not your current insurance broker, MHG is always happy to help you make an informed decision on insurance matters.
